People think that house decorations only include vases and ornaments. They clutter the apartment with plants or too many little sculptures and the result of that is – less place to live in, still not creatively decorated. They usually don’t pay attention to the walls, for example. Sometimes having white walls everywhere in your house is what makes it look dull. Here are some useful tips (most of them can even be done singlehandedly).  

Garden

Decorating your garden is probably the easiest. You should just get a lot of plants in different colors. Be careful here, if you don’t organize them right and space them uniformly, your garden might start looking like a circus. You can buy a small fountain. This is both decorative and stress reducing. You can turn and old window into a picture frame and hang it somewhere on the bungalow, or you can just put it next to the fountain. And, last but not least, you can dress up garden entrances. This will have a lovely effect on both you and your guests.

Bathroom

Bathroom is a place that can’t quite be decorated with ornaments. The main role in the bathroom decorations is played by tiles. Get mosaic tiles and all your problems with decorating the bathroom will be solved. You can get stainless steel mosaic tiles (easy to clean, fungi resistant), or you can get glass mosaic tiles (highly decorative, easy to clean, corrosion resistant).  Living room

The living room is a room for pictures. You will not need wallpapers or any other indoor wall applications. Just arrange the pictures and photos you love the most (but don’t exaggerate). An aquarium is great for the living room, because the living room is a place where you can read a book or watch TV, and the sound of an oxygen pump making bubbles in the aquarium will help you relax while doing all of these things. Also, a few plants would be nice. Just be careful and make sure you place them somewhere where light can reach them during the whole day.

Kitchen

Be careful with the kitchen. Splashbacks are a necessity here. When you prepare food, all sorts of liquid mixtures could spray the walls, and those stains are usually impossible to clean. This is why tiles and splashbacks are something you just can’t avoid when it comes to the kitchen. If you really want to make your kitchen so nice that cooking in it becomes a form of enjoyment, decorate your kitchen using these shell mosaic tiles.

Bedroom

Remember that your bedroom decorations will be the first thing you see when you wake up. So, when it comes to decorating the bedroom, try to make it as elegant as possible. The basement

If you over clutter it, you won’t have space for the new-old thing that you decided to take to the basement. If you don’t know how to get rid of all that old stuff you don’t use anymore at all, here’s a useful tip – put an advertisement on the Internet that you are selling those things. Make someone else happy and help yourself with one move! Other than that, a garage sale is a good option too. Put mice traps in the corners, just in case.

It is always cool to be the designer of your own home, just don’t get carried away. The last thing you want to do is over-clutter your house.

The Bathroom – What To Do In There?

The bathroom is a complicated thing. Not the bathroom itself, but the things in it and their arrangement and organization and all the things you need to make the whole shebang work... complicated. There is too much work to be done here and it can get overwhelming. And overwhelming is never a good thing to be involved in. No one even likes the very word, much less the very notion of it. Let’s face it, the words starting with the prefix over are never fancied, they tend to be too much for most of us, if you know what I mean. I hope you get the joke...

Nevertheless, don't be shy about your bathroom DIY as every part of the house needs to be properly arranged for your comfort and for your well-being in general, so does this one. But then again, most other areas of your home are probably easier to organize, and this one could prove to be a challenge. Unless you are a weird fellow and you like this kind of work, which I hope you’re not, for your sake, life can offer much better things than work and just work... especially work like this. Have fun and do this kind of work only once, and that’s when you get your home. Finish it, and never change it again. Well, you can change, but just too some extent and that’s like a chair over here and a picture over there, and be done with it!

Speaking of weird fellows, does OCD make you one of them? This mild disorder can prove to be a nuisance when you combine it with cleaning and arranging your home. You would need to do things over and over and over and over again... Not nice, not nice at all. Trust me, I have experience with it. But it does not make me a weird fellow! At least I hope it doesn't...

Anyway, when you do your home, there are so many things to be done. I guess much more than the bathroom itself, but when you look at each room individually, the before mentioned is at the top of the list.

As for the rest of the rooms, we know what needs to be done. For example, in the living room you need to worry about the sofa, some armchairs maybe, a television set and several other electronic thingies, like radio, a DVD player and whatnot. There’s not much you need here really, maybe some shelves for the books, but since too few people actually read books nowadays I guess that this can be scratched from the list. Anyhow, add some decorations like pictures and statues and it’s all done. The arrangement as well as all of these things won’t cause many problems since the only thing you need to worry is placing the TV opposite to the sofa and armchairs so that everyone can watch it, obviously. This doesn't seem to be a real problem, unless, once again, you need to place shelves for books. But, judging from the fact that most of us are owners of a very small amount of books, I guess that this can hardly be a nuisance.

I am missing something here. I covered everything that you can actually put on the floors and the walls, and once you've done that, it seems that nothing else can even exist. But you couldn't be more wrong! There are more ways to lighten up the atmosphere of your home. The very floors and walls are also something that needs to be looked at. Unless the builders did a good job with the looks, the colors and whatnot, you won’t have to worry about it. But people can get very picky when it comes to the places where they are going to live for a very long time. Everything has to be perfect, or as close to perfect as it can get. I’m sure that you don’t differ from these types of people. And then again, we all have the right to be picky when it comes to our homes. If you can afford it and you can have it the way you want it, of course you should make it that way; no matter how much of a nuisance you’ll be to others and yourself as well.

When it comes to walls, the real problem is not any of these rooms, but the bathroom itself. What else if not the bathroom. I have been mentioning the bathroom for so many times; you though that there was no reason for that? Hell, the title itself is the most constantly mentioned thing in this piece text.

Nonetheless, this room can be a problem since the best solution for the walls can be to cover most of it with tiles. Bathrooms tend to get dirty and can be very ugly if not properly attended. These wonderful things will solve this problem. Many of them are stainless, so you won’t have to worry about the rust and dirt like you need to worry with regular tiles. Don’t get me wrong, these won’t solve these problems completely, but they will be better than regular tiles. And what more do you need, since you can’t have something that’s perfect. That’s just not the way it works.

These are not the only options for you. So much more types will you find. You will be able to have mosaics in your bathroom, and they will probably be the only nice and pretty things in this room, because, well, we know for which things this room is used... You might want marble tiles, copper tiles, or even well-designed stone mosaic tiles, the choice is yours to make. And it won’t be an easy one, since there are so many wonderful choices.

Many people nowadays tend to find new ways to decorate their houses. In the western countries, you can find decorations made out of old newspapers. You can read about the invasion on Libya while you drink your morning coffee. There is just this tiny, insignificant detail – thenewspaper is your wallpaper, and you are reading the news by watching the wallpaper. Besides this, I simply love those walls where people let an artist play with the paint. It really is eye-candy. However, sometimes you can just turn to the older methods of decoration and add something new in there.

Let's focus on mosaics. It has been an art for over a thousand years so far. People would just gather small pieces of stones, painted in different colors, and they would make wonders with it. But throughout history, the houses decorated with mosaics were those of rich people, aristocracy and noblemen. However, nowadays, although this kind of decoration is a bit more expensive, it is affordable by almost anyone who can afford the decorating a house in the first place. Now, you are probably doing a little revising in your head concerning the last mosaic you saw in one of your neighbor’s houses, but it seems that you can't vividly recall. Let me help you. Have you entered their bathroom? All those colorful tiles placed there, making a figure of some kind – that’s the form of mosaic art. As you know, not many bathrooms nowadays have simple white tiles, but rather painted ones that are combined together to look more impressive and more interesting.

The comfort comes first. You don't want your home to look beautiful and to be total eye-candy, if your body cannot enjoy it. After comfort comes the usage of it. Let's face it, it is much better to have a sculpture that is a fountain at the same time, and you use it to drink water from it, than just a sculpture that stands in the corner of your room. However, this is totally optional. Finally, the look of the certain piece of decoration is taken into account. After all, your house should best reflect who you are, what you do and what are your attitudes towards certain things.

First of all, let's say that you just moved in and that your house is not in order at all. There is furniture all over the place and you need to arrange it. After you have done that, you should consider some “deeper” decoration. The thing I want to focus on in this article in particular is how should we fit mosaic as an art in our home, and what will those mosaics convey about ourselves? It says that you are a person who likes to be lonely and has little friends. But those friends of his are very close to him and they are always there to help him. Stone mosaics, on the other hand, are rather specific. People who prefer this kind of decoration tend to face difficulties in their lives in two ways. One of them is to cut right to the core of the problem and try to solve it, and the other is to stand still and wait for the problem to pass you by. Stone can also say that you are materialist and that you do not believe in God or generally anything that has not been proven by science. You like the smell and the look of money and your career is much more important to you in your life than love, for example. Stone mosaics which are fit into a traditional living-room with a fireplace and wooden furniture say that you are a family person and that people related to you are on the top of your list. But more than that, stone mosaic conveys that you are a person who enjoys nature and finds peace in activities such as fishing, hiking or just spending some time in nature.

To sum up, every person in this world has its own story to tell, but all of them want that story to have many interesting details. Those details can be added by changing yourself or the things around you. When you decide to change the things around you, go to your house and try to rearrange the furniture. I wholeheartedly suggest that you take one of the mosaics that I have presented to you above and try to fit it somewhere as best as you can, thus saying an interesting fact about you – something that no one noticed before.

Breaking the Tediousness...

Have you ever thought about decorating your bathroom and kitchen, or some other unusual place? No? I thought so. But I am here to talk you into it because there are plenty of reasons why you should do it. And besides that, you shouldn’t be so skeptical, just because something sounds new and unusual to you it doesn’t mean that it is bad or not worthy of doing. Where would the world be if people had not been brave and done new stuff and tested new things, explored new lands, or simply done something out of the ordinary?

The answer is: nowhere. Without those brave souls the world would probably still be in the stone age, people would still be hunting animals instead of having them on their plates, they would be picking raisins and whatnot in the forest instead of buying all of them and much more in stores and they would be sleeping in cold, dark caves instead of comfortable, warm houses and apartments. That would certainly be a horrible world, am I right? We should be thankful to all those brave men for the beautiful world in which we live today. Take a few moments to thank them - just kidding…

Money should not be an issue!

Moving on... Decorating the kitchen can be a nice experience for you. This goes for other parts of the house which are usually ugly and normal, probably too normal if you ask me. You’ll get something different and new, something that people don’t usually have. If that’s not enough for you, you should go with the line which I love. It is a very good one actually, catchy and whatnot and it consists of these two words: why NOT??? I usually use it when people ask me: “Why would you want to do that?” and I’d answer: “why NOT?” And, seriously, why not? Are you going to get hurt? Are you going to lose something? Money perhaps? If the money is not there for you to buy things, why is it there anyway? Just spend it – it does nothing good just lying around your home for nothing. I’m not saying that you should spend it all, but you don’t need to keep all of it in a safe place forever. Money circulates! It’s what it does. It is not supposed to just lie around. If you have everything that is of life importance, and you have money left, spend it!

If that’s not enough, spend money because it is bad for us, it makes people greedy, bad, wicked. It has never done anything good. That’s one of the many reasons to spend it. Because of that, you need to hate it… Well, you don’t need to hate money entirely, but you should not love it. People should be loved, not money and things in general. That’s just wrong. Human life is priceless, not diamonds or whatever else is considered expensive in today’s standards.

Let’s cut to the chase!

Anyway, I have moved far enough from what I was originally talking about. So let’s get back to our homes and the rooms which we were talking about. Since I've been practically making you get things for those rooms I’ll now tell you what good can come out of that purchase, and you will be able to judge for yourselves if you should or should not buy the things. But what are those things anyway? Try and guess... These things exist in both the kitchen and the bathroom. Well, usually they do, not necessarily of course. You give up? I’m talking about tiles, naturally. But not just any tiles, because regular ones you probably already have, and these don’t really embellish anything, or beautify. I’m not calling them regular for no reason. The tiles in question are mosaic tiles. I wanted to talk about them. If you want to get something else to embellish the rooms in question, think of it yourself, don’t wait for me to discover it. I can’t think of everything.

Why get these pretty little tiles?

There are many reasons for it, the biggest and most important being that they are pretty; maybe even beautiful. One can go as far as calling them art. You should check up on some history and see for yourselves that mosaics have been a type of art since the very beginning. It doesn't really matter where they are – they are still art, even if they are on tiles. And since you have pictures and statutes already, why not have mosaics as well? And why not have them in the kitchen, or the bathroom for that matter?

If you are “owners” of those little bundles of joy called children, these can be good for you because children love everything that is pretty and this will be even more interesting to them as they are something you do not usually see. They will especially be interesting to them if they are in the bathroom as well – if not just for them, then for you too. You won’t have to bring the newspapers in the loo...

They can also be good in order to break the tediousness of your place; that is, if you don’t already have enough colors in your home. Even if you do, they can still add to those colors.

There are plenty more reasons to get these mosaic tiles and you don’t need to hear them, as these should be enough for you.

If you decide on getting them, you’ll have a lot of options, which is great. Search them online. I’m sure you’ll find a lot of choices. The choices usually involve different materials from which the tiles are made, materials like stone, glass, steel, and not just any steel, but stainless steel, and others. Pragmatism and Something Else

Everything can be practically applied to something/somewhere/somehow. Human ingenuity is limitless when it comes to that. Oh, well, it’s limitless in general, not just in that part. That little fact is simply amazing, no doubt about it. It is not rare for any of us to be surprised by ourselves when we realize how well we can think of thousands of ways to use something. These ideas can sometimes be as dumb as possible, almost to the level of a retarded person, but sometimes they can be at the level of a genius. When you do something so smart, you feel like you are Albert Einstein, Nikola Tesla and Leonardo da Vinci all in one... Or that can simply be the ego... Definitely the ego...

But I am not here to talk about the obvious, it is the way it is, no need to debate about it. What’s important are all those ways to apply something. It’s very important because most of us are simple people, living normal lives, doing day to day chores and other things that regular people do. But I am not being very clear, now am I? What I want to talk about are all the ways you could set up and decorate your home, because that really is one of the important things for us regular people. And since human ingenuity is practically limitless and often full of dumb ideas, it can’t hurt to limit it to several good ones. At least I hope they will be good. I may be very smart but I’m not a genius! There goes that ego again, I should tone it down or something... But I’m still a smart person...

So many ways to do this, I may be over my head here, but it’s ok. One thing is certain about this arranging the things in your house and similar. Everything you can put on walls, put it. This is not the part about decorating but the part about pragmatism. It can include decoration of course, when it comes to decorating your wall with art and alike, but the rest is not. When I say the rest, what do I actually mean by “the rest”? I’m referring here to shelves of course. It is best to have as many of those. They can be used for books, for some pretty little statuettes and pictures, for all kinds of things. They can be a bit ugly, the shelves I mean, but that can be taken care of too – a paint job or you simply go out and buy some good-looking shelves – it’s rather simple actually. Those that you use for books, don’t really need to be pretty, the books cover that part, if you have them; if you don’t, get them, and start reading! It’s important to read books, for your vocabulary and for your overall knowledge. But if you really don’t want to do that, I guess you can get them just for show, to have a whole wall covered with shelves filled with books. It will make you seem like a very smart person, I guess.

Another good thing besides shelves, are wardrobes (not as much as they are for women). Not discriminating or anything, but women do have more clothing than man, it’s just the way it is. Thus, women need more room. But besides these, simple cabinets for the kitchen are important also. Don’t forget to have enough of them, because you don’t want to have to keep all your dishes on shelves, do you? That’s just bad taste and lack of ingenuity.

Talking about the kitchen decoration and functionality reminded me, it is partly connected to being practical as much as it has to do with decoration. I’m referring to tiles, and not just any tiles, because regular tiles are nothing special, they are as boring as much as they lack in creativity. Well, we have to be a bit theatrical or everything will get boring. Due to all the stress that we are forced to suffer from every day, since, let’s face it, life is hard, we have to have a, sort of, “safe haven”, where we can just sit down and relax. For some people, it is their favourite bar or coffee house, and for others, it is something outdoors. Opinions and tastes differ on the matter, logically, but I think that, if you organise your life so that your home is your sanctuary, then you are in the clear. Many recent studies have shown that  a beautiful, functional and adequate home design is something that every person should have, because most people spend a lot of time at home, and if they satisfied with how it looks, when they sit in their comfortable place, they are able to cope with everything that crosses their path with more ease, and thus with more success. You can agree that, when you put it that way, it is wise to invest in your home, because it will benefit you in many ways.

Now, when you have a busy schedule, you come back from work late, and you just stuff your face in your pillow and go to sleep, without taking care of your home, and, as we all know, every home needs to be taken care of very much. Let’s say that the construction of your living premises is done properly, and that you have made it be your little nest. Now it is time to keep it clean and beautiful. Apart from the standard household chores like dusting, vacuuming and watering the plants, you have to pay great attention to the maintenance of two very problematic rooms. I am talking about the kitchen and the bathroom, which are supposed to be the cleanest places in your home, for obvious reasons.
